It's been a bit since I read any of that mess directly. Let me hit a d3. It says 4: Necessity II: Necessity Harder. So, I guess I'll give that a go.

Or moral dissonance, which is horribly common in everything he writes.

Also that. Either he's incredibly tone-deaf for his characters' morality, or he is in fact incredibly immoral. edit: Or he's deliberately writing morally repugnant characters, but that's a greater level of self-awareness than I want to ascribe to him, given his various comments about Eragon being a classic fantasy hero who is good and righteous and oh so empathetic and driven by his morals.

I think it's tone-deafeness and being terrible at writing character. It's surprisingly easy to end up with a bunch of sociopaths populating your novel if you never stop to think about what you're making them say and do.

As well as protagonist-centered morality. If something gets in their way, it's evil and therefore any means to take them down is good.

Yeah, and he even more or less came out and said exactly that, groan. "If he's the hero then what he does is automatically heroic!"

The guy's as clueless as a thing that is known for being short on clues.

I bet he thought adding an exclamation point right after 'Escape', would make the chapter more exciting and eager for the readers. Instead, it makes me think about a song by Vince DiCola. I love his work he had done for Transformers: The Movie (1984)
