First, I have to ask, how do you pronounce the name "Neghar"? I've posed this question to Mara and to several other friends, and they've all given me different pronunciations. The worst of which was... well. Just look at that name. Which made both Mara and I (and my friends) wonder why he chose that particular name, and why he didn't add a 'y' or some kind of other sound distinction. And I'm pretty sure she's the first to die, if I'm remembering the scene right.

Second, Venus might be the most ideal planet to colonize first, but the problem is that Mercury and Venus are going to be the first to go when the sun starts to expand, so going to Mars first, and then beyond, is probably the "safest" bet in the long run. Of course, the sun's death throes aren't for millions of years yet, so who knows what could happen by then.

Third, I remember this scene where Kira finds the symbiote ONLY because when I was reading it, the part where she only rips her Achilles tendon is so... ridiculous I actually got up off my seat and physically tried doing this. Slowly, of course, so I didn't hurt myself. No matter what I tried, I could not for the life of me (even in slow motion or under a 'normal' speed that would allow me the same range of motion without the injury) recreate Kira's injury. I sporked the whole excerpt for Mara's benefit so he wouldn't have to melt his brain with it and have amusing commentary to make him feel better if he did, so I'll share what I wrote for this part:

"She (meaning Kira) turned… so she’s making an 180 degree motion. Her right foot stays stuck to the ground and she falls to a knee. Uh… Kira must have been turning with the speed of a cheetah because if it was a slow and deliberate movement, or even a natural movement at a steady rate of speed, like a normal turning speed, she would’ve realized her right foot doesn’t move. Turning to the right - her stuck foot - her body wouldn’t be able to make a complete turn. She’d be stopped literally in her tracks by her stuck foot. Turning to the left, at a certain point, there’s pressure on the right shin and I couldn’t make a full turn around. I got stuck. Even putting a modicum of speed - the speed at which a natural turn would be made - the pressure in my right shin was still there. I certainly didn’t fall to a knee. My left knee, to be exact. So I attempted a “fall” to my knee, and in response my right leg buckled rather than pull so hard I felt pain in my ankle. If anything, Kira should have ripped her KNEE not her Achilles tendon. What sort of physics is Paolini working with? Just how long are Kira’s legs that her knee could be completely fine but her TENDON rips?"

I'm also assuming that Paolini's never ripped his Achilles tendon before, because all Kira does is howl and blink back a few tears. That is not a practical reaction to that sort of injury. She should be screaming and crying and freaking out, because that injury is painful. Like on a scale of 1 - 10 of pain, it's a 25.
