He might as well have been just another Rider with a regular-sized dragon rather than having eleventy billion dead dragon souls and the Name of Names at his command for all the difference it made.
I know. I mean, the dude would be super hard to kill even without all this stuff. That's probably why he hasn't been assassinated yet. He can detect poison, cause a spell to make him wake up when an assassin goes into his room, he can have a spell that makes his throat unable to be slit, he can make everyone tell the truth in the ancient language about whether they're part of a coup or not...
The possibilities are endless.
With someone having as much practice as he has, Eragon should be dead.
In one book series I read, the villain is like this. He has a lot of magic, and can basically do almost anything with it. They defeat him by a clever use of a magic spell, sneaking it on him when he least expects it. That would be a clever way to defeat Galby. Use magic to show him a vision of his dead dragon, and he can ask anything he wishes of her again. She would be horrified by what he did, and either he would see the error of his ways, or he would be shocked, and they could sneak a magic spell. (Or hell, have the Ra'zac help bump him off. Or lure him into an area with those crystals.)
