I also have to say: these books feel really incoherent, especially the first trilogy.

Yeah, no kidding. The tone AND the genre are all over the place. One moment we're getting horrible violence, and the next we're getting chapter titles and phrasings which sounds like they're right out of a children's book. And then there's all the random sci fi crap that keeps popping up.
