The first trilogy is mostly just stupid cliche high fantasy Aside from the horror pregnancies (did Douglass have a fetish for them), and what happened to poor Borneheld. and not in a good way. I'm up for a lot of treats, I see. Compared to this, Inheritance is so light it's almost invisble. I mean, there is a lot of fucked-up stuff (the Riders enslaving dragons, the Eldunarya controlling the whole land and probably overwriting Eragon's and Saphira's personalities, the forest rape ritual, all the mindrape, the genocide), but it's somewhat more in the background and it never quite becomes surreal.
