I am at the beginning of the book for the moment, but I dare to say that it reads better than the previous books of Cycle for now.
The prose is pretty okay, but the plot is an utter mess and Murtagh has been turned into a whiny dumbass while Thorn is pretty much sidelined. And there are a LOT of massive continuity errors and ridiculously blatant retons.
In fact I just now encountered one of the continuity errors in question: Murtagh is eating "jerky", and later down the page it suddenly turns into "flatbread". He even complains about wanting "proper bread" and Thorn tells him meat is better. Yeah, if only you had some jerky, but apparently that magically transformed into bread somehow! It's just inexcusable.
