And she still hasn't done the blindingly obvious correct thing of marrying King Orrin
She could marry an elf noble, too. That would both reunite the elf kingdoms and her kingdom, and also give rise to a very long-lived dynasty. Laws would have to be put in place to make sure the elf spouse doesn't just take over, but I could see it happening.
(and cue even more Orrin bashing plus Murtagh getting all angry and jealous because he apparently still hasn't figured out that she was just manipulating him in the nastiest way possible).
I feel sorry for him. He only fell in love with Nasuada because she was one of the few people to treat him like a person. This isn't love, it's attachment and a guilt complex.
Paolini REALLY needs to stop screwing around with his magic system. The more he tries to "fix" it the worse it gets.
I kept thinking of Murtagh writing Python or Javascript.
And if True Names can be changed with experiences like guilt or something, then fealty oaths are useless. If you change your True Name, technically, you aren't the person who is bound to the oath anymore. If someone swore an oath, and they wanted to get out of it, they could just blind themselves, or something, and have that experience change their true name.
