Now you mention it, Fishy's story is goddamn tragic. I didn't pick up on it because in Paolini's usual fashion it's just treated like a horrible monster and nobody spares it any sympathy at all.

Indeed. I expect the others (Corneille Blanche, the SCSF and Ormuva) will have words to say about this.
