It's become painfully obvious that he doesn't know how to put his protagonist into dangerous situations without making him so over the top dumb and klutzy (seriously, how many times has this "expert warrior and talented dancer" fallen on his arse so far? Last time he literally landed in a pile of shit) that it's become straight up cartoonish.

Well, you have to be creative if you want to think about situations that would challenge a smart character.
