On a lighter note, I have a book called "I Hate Myself And Want To Die: The [number] Most Depressing Songs Ever". In the introduction the author discusses what constitutes a depressing song as opposed to a sad song. His conclusion is that sad songs give you empathetic insight, while depressing ones just make you want to stick a gun in your mouth.
He also says that no doubt some will be asking - well what about the Blues? His response: "Trust me, the black artists who wrote and sang the Blues weren't depressed. They were pissed off."
