If Paolini dislikes Murtagh so much, why even write a book about him?

It doesn't even work as fanservice because who the hell wanted to see this happen to their favourite character? Morontagh isn't even angsty in a cool brooding bad boy kind of way; he's just fucking whiny and childish.
