Tension comes from actual stakes, peril, etc, not stupid crutches like ellipses. Morontagh is acting like he's in danger right now but the truth of it is... he really isn't. He's far too powerful for this to be a dangerous thing for him to do. So fucking what if he gets caught? He can kill you five times before you hit the floor and probably knows a bunch of killing spells Galby taught him. On top of that he has the authority inherent to being a Rider. There is NO reason why he couldn't have just barged up with Thorn at his side and said "hand over the werecat or else". It's not as if Queen Nausea has the power to dish out any sort of punishment if he does this. She couldn't control Eragon, after all.
