Instead... tumbleweed and crickets. And why would Disney be keeping it all so secret if stuff IS happening? That's not how you hype up a show. Where's the lead actors doing panels at ComicCon to talk about the project? A progress report at the very least? I've never known any big studio not to do that sort of thing ASAP once the "big announcement" has been made.
Sounds to me like that "big contract" Paolini said was being negotiated did not in fact end up being signed. And I can't imagine what (or rather who) could have caused whoever the other party was to say "no thanks" and walk away from the table. *whistles innocently*
