Throughout the entire book, the one feature that stood out the most was how long-winded and self-important the author can be, stretching a paragraph or two worth of content into entire chapters.

Yeah, you can see why he's such a big admirer of Paolini, can't you?

I seriously beg to disagree.

I just flushed something more "compelling" down the toilet.

However, as far as I’m concerned, there is only one person who knows what’s going to happen, and that’s Christopher Paolini.

You mean the guy who couldn't even keep it straight as to whether Lethrblaka have tails or not? The guy whose answers change from interview to interview and sometimes even within the same interview? That guy?

Someone like Paolini, who threw out all of his foreshadowing and setup to change the ending at the last minute.

All hail King Roran wait never mind!

I’m sorry to say I haven’t had fun with this at all.

Nobody did.

Jokes aside, Paolini’s heavily plagiarised and derivative surface-level worldbuilding and skin-deep character development are hardly anything to write a whole book about.

Although overanalysing a book can ruin it,

The irony is just sickening, considering what we do here.

that doesn’t mean that there can’t be some benefits derived from reading between the lines and trying to figure out any deeper meanings that the author has tried to impart to the reader.

Which we did, hence why we spotted all the racism, misogyny, ableism, elitism and general bigotry and cruelty guys like Dickhead I mean Richard here blithely ignore. Oh, and the plagiarism. We spotted plenty of that too.

I agree completely. I can only say I sincerely and earnestly wish more fans would read the series from a critical and analytical perspective instead of filling the gaps with their own imagined story and characters.

Because they're all doing THIS. Not using their brains and just going along with whatever Paolini tells them is in the "story" like it's actually there.

I like to encourage people to think.

If you're thinking, you're doing it wrong.

I had a lot of fun writing this book, but I have a feeling the fun is only just beginning,

I have some bad news for you.

I really can’t think of any reason this book should have been written and published. It should have been a series of discussion posts on the eragon subreddit, or something like the old shurtugal.com forums.

Yeah. I mean basically what he was doing here was taking what should have been a series of internet forum posts and publishing it in the hopes of making money off it. And that's just... really crass. Like should we take the contents of this comm. and have that printed and bound for $$$? I don't think so, but at least it'd be a more worthwhile read than this was.

All the same, you did put the effort in to writing this book, and to your credit I think you put more effort into checking details of the story than Paolini did when writing Inheritance.

Which his fans quite consistently do. I hope Mr Marcus has moved on to better things.

And after all these years it's DONE! When you die your ghost will not be forced to roam the earth in eternal torment because of your unfinished business, woo!

Now go have a drink. You've earned it.
