LOL! Look what I found on the Eragon subreddit!

 The link: www.reddit.com/r/Eragon/comments/n692qg/nasuada_is_the_next_galbatorix/

The text:

 Nasuada is the next Galbatorix

Think about it. After there’s an entire revolution against a tyrannical king, they just reinstate the monarchy and Nasuada starts a turn towards authoritarianism. She puts complete surveillance on magic users, she is furious when Eragon refuses to serve under her, and gives Orrin just a few cities in exchange for everything Surda has done to help the Varden. She’s going to be the next Galbatorix.

A couple of people are chalking this up to Christopher's brilliance rather than his just not thinking it through. The way the book was written, it did seem like this was supposed to be a rather happy ending.

Actually a lot of them have proven very willing and indeed happy to enjoy spitefic, if only because it means something is fucking happening at last. And they've very often made it clear that they really don't care if it involves Eragon as the villain - I've gotten the distinct impression that 99% of them really could not give less of a shit about that jerk.

All I've seen is some reviews of the Storm Dragons series is accusations of Eragon acting OOC, but that's it

From what I understand their definition of "OOC" is "acts like exactly the same nasty little asshole he is in canon, but this time his bad behaviour isn't excused or enabled by the narrative". It's amazing how revealing that can be. 😈

True that. People even tried to explain away the utterly reprehensible and evil behaviour of the main character of You, in large part because he's the protagonist. Well, and the guy playing him is handsome - no point in pretending that's not a factor. Stalking, breaking and entering, theft of personal information and multiple murders were all excused away with "But he's in love!" In the end the actor who played him came out and made a public statement that "my character is NOT a good guy, what's wrong with you?" but I doubt it made much difference.

It's truly amazing just how much people are willing to turn a blind eye to, isn't it?
