Is "Soft Blade" plagarized from Venom?

I have not read To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. I found the following information on Wikipedia and was wondering how much of this can be found in Paolini's version of the symbiote. In the pictures the symbiote is mostly black wit sharp teeth, a long tongue and a big white spider on its chest and white eyes. I invite who have read the book to comment on any similarities.
