The Last Scion

So way back in 2009, when I was still a solid fan of the Inheritance Cycle - Book 4 hadn't been published yet - I decided I'd write my own Book 4, such as it was. I was a wee kitten then, less cynical and jaded than I am now, and this fanfic really kind of shows it. Murtagh was still my favorite character (and is still, let's be honest) and I wanted to write something where he got to have the happy life he deserved. There is no denying there's Sue-ism in this fanfic. There's no denying the Deus ex Machina Fairy puts in appearances. But I had fun writing it, and that's the point of writing something and sharing it, right? So I thought, hey, it might get torn to pieces (to be fair, this work is 15 years old) and I think I've improved since then. There's so much I'd change if I rewrote this. But I kind of like it how it is, in all its nostalgic Suish Deus ex-ish glory.

So I thought... why not haul it out and share it? It at least might get a laugh or two.

Anyway... it's only 25 chapters long and, if I can toot my own horn a bit, I feel it's not nearly as boring as the actual Book 4.
