Paolini really has gotten better... at writing lots of words without actually saying anything. This thing has more padding than all four books of the Cycle put together.
I look at entire chapters and think that they could be cut down to a page at most. I do like the sub-chapters, though. It makes it easier to track what I've sporked. After 300,000 words we should know SOMETHING about Kira. Including what she looks like.
Yikes. I know an artist who has really bad nightmares. She creates artworks of the horrifying monsters she sees in them.
That's cool. I weave things like that into my writing. Though I did draw a picture of death as an eyeless woman once.
(BTW, my nightmare last night was that my little brother set a bomb (that he though was harmless) in a building, but he was delayed, so I had to use my superpower (a voice that made people do anything I wanted) to get him out. The bomb killed a bunch of people, so there was an international manhunt for me. We got caught, but I took the fall, and it ended when I was escaping prison. I'd like to see Freud analyze that.)
