That’s one of the big honking plot holes in this whole story. The first big honker of a plot hole is why did the elves abandon the war after their king was killed during the battle (either THE battle at Uru’baen or ONE OF the battles at Uru’baen, it’s unclear) despite having the advantage of superior of fire power? At this point in time Galby was a shadow of himself compared to where he is when Eragon comes on the scene. He could’ve easily been taken out by the elves if they had just stayed.

The second honker is the fact that the Riders supposedly numbered in the high thousands, and that’s WITHOUT the Eldunari from dragons who decided they’d rather live as a shiny glass balls instead of flesh and blood. Since Riders are effectively immortal, where did Eragon I go? Anurin? They just sort of appear on the scene and then disappear at the same time and nobody knows what their fate is. Nobody knows what happened to them. Yet Riders are supposed to be immortal so you would think those two would still be around along with whoever was a Rider during their time. Taking consideration all the dead dragon balls that the Riders possessed you have numbers that are astronomical. And that’s not considering there were probably freshly minted Riders at that time as well.

Plus if you think about it really hard, it stated that the wild dragons all came to help the Riders against Galby when he attacked the island, which had to have boosted their numbers even more. If everyone knew that the dude was gonna make himself a suicide bomber and turn himself into a nuke then why did we have the wild dragons come and try to help everybody? If they were so concerned with the wild dragons surviving Galby’s attacks on them, then they would’ve told the wild dragons to get away from the island and flee while they could and that way they wouldn’t get caught in the nuclear fallout and/or the nuclear blast. But they didn’t. So you could argue that the Riders even caused the deaths and the near extinction of the dragons because of what they did on the island.

I could go on for a long time. I have a lot of conspiracy theories for this story. Mostly because I have no life and I keep trying to figure out the logic of everything, because the logic in canon doesn’t make sense.
