Here we have eragon. A farmboy who spent years toiling in the field and suffering from winter and drought, tiring himself to make sure he can eat, and having to to grit his teeth through hard time and prepare for the next.

Currently whining like a spoiled prince whose dessert came a minutes late. And have to learn a lesson of going through hardship, something a farmer most likely learned, from a child, and he is about twenty mind you. What do you mean he was a farmboy. It's obvious Paolini had little knowledge of farming, at least in the middle age.

But I have a headcanon. When eragon goes hunting he is lying. In reality it's an excuse to not do farmwork, leaving it to Garrow and roran, and just lays around the spine before returning and boasting of capturing beast he couldn't show. It at least explain why he has fats that was gone in book 1.
