Hi guys, how have you been? I hope it's ok. Lately college has kept me busy and I haven't had time to write my book ...
or so I think.
Sometimes I feel like I become self-sabotaging and don't continue with what I like to do.
I've heard that I shouldn't think too much about the future, but about the now, but how do I do that? How can I have more confidence in myself to unblock myself and continue with my story?
What do you think? Has it happened to them?
I would love to hear from you and, who knows, receive advice from you.

Date: 2021-05-26 06:00 pm (UTC)I've been there. What worked for me was taking a break from writing and trying something new. I took a break from writing to learn some acting and give community theater a go. When I came back to writing, I was a stronger writer for the extra experience. College is a great time to experiment. Embrace it and good luck!

How old are you? In college implies pretty young. You are probably under a lot of pressure to get somewhere with life pretty soon. Get a lot done in the next couple of years. It's not a fair thing to ask of yourself. Rome wasn't built in a day and this community is devoted to mocking some dude who got himself published before he had the skills to write a good book. Now it looks like he'll never manage to pull off mediocre.
Remember that Stan Lee was born in 1922 and Spider-man first ran in 1962, 40 years later. There are a lot of reasons to lack confidence. That's normal.
It's easy to forget sometimes that everyone starts like Jon Snow. Your favourite author had to learn how words work the same way you did. You can get to that level the same way they did. It's all hard work. It always has been.
Normally this page isn't really for this sort of question. I would recommend finding a discord or other, more direct, social group for it. Dreamwidth is a little public and slow to respond for such personal questions.
